Insight Counseling and Wellness Center Psychotherapist
Meet Shelby
I view therapy as a space to get curious, gain insight, heal, and transform. I show up as my authentic self and encourage my clients to come as they are, allowing space for and embracing all parts of their identity. I strive to create a space where my clients feel safe, seen, and connected. I bring genuine curiosity, empathy, humility, humor, and a warm grounding presence to the space.
I work with clients of all ages who are experiencing:
- Anxiety & Stress Management
- Adjustment to life changes & transitions
- Depression & mood concerns
- Relationship difficulties
- Identity exploration
- Trauma related wounds & traumatic life experiences
My Approach:
Therapy with me is a space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening inside you, and start to feel more like yourself again. My approach integrates traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks with holistic practices that support whole person healing and lasting growth. Evidence-based somatic (body-centered) approaches, including grounding techniques, breathwork, and mindful movement, to help clients increase self-awareness, regulate their nervous systems, and create meaningful, sustainable change.
- Culturally responsive, individualized care that honors each client’s unique identities, experiences, values, needs and strengths.
- Somatic & Polyvagal-informed Therapy – body-centered approaches that build mind-body connection to help clients understand their unique nervous system, regulate their emotions, and create meaningful, sustainable change.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) – A compassionate, parts-based approach that helps people understand, build connection with, and heal the different parts of themselves that may be carrying pain, fear, or protective strategies.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – A skills-based approach that teaches practical tools for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and tolerating difficult experiences in the moment.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – A structured approach that aims at identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns that may keep us stuck in order to develop more balanced ways of thinking to meaningfully improve how we feel and act.
- Strengths-based approach that help clients identify strengths, build resilience, and cultivate greater fulfillment and purpose in their lives.

When I’m not working, you can find me hiking and exploring nature, practicing yoga, cozying up with a book, doodling and letting my creative juices flow, and spending quality time with my partner, my friends, and my family.
