Rio Caceres, Master’s Level Intern

Meet Rio

I know that some of the most courageous things we can do is sit with our whole selves: the parts we’ve been told to hide, the parts shaped by shame, and the parts still figuring out who they are. My therapy space is built for exactly that: a place where you don’t have to shrink, perform, or explain yourself before you’re accepted.

Individuals and Couples of all backgrounds, identities and orientations come to me:

  • Healing from religious trauma
  • Navigating questions of identity and self-discover
  • Coping through relationship issues and emotional intimacy
  • Looking to build self-compassions

My approach is trauma-informed and deeply affirming, drawing from:

  • Somatic therapy- an approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and body, especially how emotions, stress, and trauma are held and expressed physically.
  • Brainspotting- a trauma-focused therapy that helps people access, process, and release difficult emotional experiences by working with where they look and what they notice in their body.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)- a therapy model that understands the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own feelings, roles, and intentions.

Degree & Institution: Master of Social Work (in progress), Metropolitan State University of Denver
